The most beautiful sunset...

Monday dusk saw the most beautiful sunset I've ever seen in my life... The sky was painted with golden hues of red and pink, interspersed with streaks of indigo and violet... The sight was simply breathtaking!

Taken without "zoom" from the front entrance of Basser - can you see the cityline in the distance?

Same spot again but with a little "zoom" - can you see the Sydney Tower right in the middle among all the other skyscrapers?

Honestly, these two photos do no justice to the true image that evening - in fact, the photos only evoke about 1% of how one would feel if he/she sees the real thing! =P Plus, you'll have to forgive the rather bad quality of the photos. After all, they were taken using a 2MP camera handphone... Imagine how much prettier it would be if it was a proper camera, lol...

It is moments like these when I thank God for the wonderful creation He has made. Simple things like these are all it takes to put a smile on my weary face after a long day of hard toil. My worries leave my mind for the fleeting moment and I just beam with happiness.

Ah, will I ever see another sunset as beautiful as this?

Mixed emotions...

I am confused... Utterly confused... It's just hard to describe the emotions I'm feeling now. I thought I had packed them away and never have to deal with it again, letting the bygones be bygones. There had been moments of brief joy but there were also silent aches, masked by a face that seldom betrays the inner thoughts. But no matter how hard I try...

I just can't forget.

Lord, help me not to get distracted. Let things be according to thy will. If it is part of your plan for me, so be it. But if it's not, help me understand that I can still rely on your promises, and that the matters running in my mind now are insignificant compared to the bigger plans you have for me. For you, Lord, know the struggles I am facing deep down inside, but I'm indeed glad and thankful that I can still find comfort in the generous love you have graciously showered me with...

Friday the 13th

A new record has been made - this is the first time I have blogged 3 days in a row!!!

Ok, back to serious business, today is Friday the 13th. Many believe it to be an unlucky day but I'm not that superstitious - more so when my sports house (Rumah Unggul) won the overall champion title on Sports Day back in 2002 when it was held on Friday the 13th...

But Friday the 13th may spell bad news for some criminals... On my way to CRUfAD this morning, I saw both the Channel Seven and Nine vans parked outside the Darlinghurst Courthouse with several news crew and reporters outside the courthouse - wonder what's going on inside...

The Darlinghurst Courthouse

The 7 News van

Justice is served...

Curious to know what may be "the big deal", I decided to do a little online search to see what the national news have in store today. A very interesting result emerged and I suspect the juicy bit of news may be connected to the hype outside the courthouse today - but I may be wrong as it wasn't mentioned specifically which court the case was trialled - read below for the doped-up news... literally, haha...

Top NSW cop refused bail on drug charges

11:37 AEST Fri Jun 13 2008

A top NSW crimefighter facing charges over an alleged multi-million dollar drug conspiracy has been refused bail in a Sydney court.

Mark Standen, 51, an assistant director of the NSW Crime Commission and a former federal police officer, was arrested and charged last week over an alleged conspiracy to import 600kg of pseudoephedrine.

Standen's lawyer Paul King provided Magistrate Allan Moore with written submissions on Thursday.

Mr Moore on Friday ruled that Standen would remain in custody on the grounds he was too great a flight risk.

Standen appeared in court via audio visual link from special protective custody.

Standen was among a group of people arrested in Australia, The Netherlands and Bangkok over an alleged bid to import enough of the precursor chemical pseudoephedrine to manufacture 480kg of the illegal drug ice.

The chemicals were allegedly due to be shipped into Australia inside a container of rice from Pakistan and by several other methods.

Mr Moore said he had taken into consideration written statements from Standen's two eldest children as well as his current "undesirable" situation in protective custody.

However, he said given Standen's former position in the NSW Crime Commission, there was too great a risk of him leaving the country for him to post bail.

"I can't ignore his position within the Crime Commission," Mr Moore said.

"He has information about methodology which could assist his departure from the country."

Standen's family attended court on Friday but refused to answer media questions outside.

They have arrived!

They have arrived!
.

.

I know what you're thinking... What have arrived?
.
.
.
.
.
Tada! The tickets I booked to go watch Alfred Hitchcock's 39 Steps with Stef at Sydney Opera House!

It arrived in the mail this afternoon...

The lovely ticket docket - it's going to be my first ever play in the infamous landmark! *grins*

The ticket itself... Managed to get priority booking with discounted prices plus selection of great seats at a preview show - all these simply because I'm an e-news subscriber! And it doesn't even cost to subscribe! =)

Totally unrelated to Opera House but the Red Bull crew have arrived too! It's an annual tradition for the crew to distribute free Red Bull to the college kids every exam season...

This year, it's sugar-free! They must be getting more and more health-conscious... Next to the can is the promo booklet - funny cartoons, hehe... XD

That's it! =P

Ps. Hitting Sushi Suma, Surry Hills and Lindt's Cafe, Darling Harbour tomorrow night with my Bible Studies group - yayness! ^_^

What does "Shih Ying" or "Jane Gun" mean?

What Shih Ying Means

You are the total package - suave, sexy, smart, and strong.

You have the whole world under your spell, and you can influence almost everyone you know.

You don't always resist your urges to crush the weak. Just remember, they don't have as much going for them as you do.

You are truly an original person. You have amazing ideas, and the power to carry them out.

Success comes rather easily for you... especially in business and academia.

Some people find you to be selfish and a bit overbearing. You're a strong person.

You tend to be pretty tightly wound. It's easy to get you excited... which can be a good or bad thing.

You have a lot of enthusiasm, but it fades rather quickly. You don't stick with any one thing for very long.

You have the drive to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time. Your biggest problem is making sure you finish the projects you start.

You are a free spirit, and you resent anyone who tries to fence you in.

You are unpredictable, adventurous, and always a little surprising.

You may miss out by not settling down, but you're too busy having fun to care.

You are very intuitive and wise. You understand the world better than most people.

You also have a very active imagination. You often get carried away with your thoughts.

You are prone to a little paranoia and jealousy. You sometimes go overboard in interpreting signals.

You are deeply philosophical and thoughtful. You tend to analyze every aspect of your life.

You are intuitive, brilliant, and quite introverted. You value your time alone.

Often times, you are grumpy with other people. You don't appreciate them trying to interfere in your affairs.

Hmm, while most of the above are rather accurate portrayals of my personality (surprisingly!), some aren't quite true - but I'll leave it to you to figure which ones are (or aren't!). If you know me well enough, then it shouldn't pose too much of a problem, hehe... =P

I thought I'll try entering "Jane Gun" instead of "Shih Ying" and below's the result. As you can see, there are some repeating items - maybe these are (or aren't) true? Well, you decide...

What Jane Gun Means

You are fair, honest, and logical. You are a natural leader, and people respect you.

You never give up, and you will succeed... even if it takes you a hundred tries.

You are rational enough to see every part of a problem. You are great at giving other people advice.

You are usually the best at everything ... you strive for perfection.

You are confident, authoritative, and aggressive.

You have the classic "Type A" personality.

You are very intuitive and wise. You understand the world better than most people.

You also have a very active imagination. You often get carried away with your thoughts.

You are prone to a little paranoia and jealousy. You sometimes go overboard in interpreting signals.

You are friendly, charming, and warm. You get along with almost everyone.

You work hard not to rock the boat. Your easy going attitude brings people together.

At times, you can be a little flaky and irresponsible. But for the important things, you pull it together.

You are deeply philosophical and thoughtful. You tend to analyze every aspect of your life.

You are intuitive, brilliant, and quite introverted. You value your time alone.

Often times, you are grumpy with other people. You don't appreciate them trying to interfere in your affairs.

You are a very lucky person. Things just always seem to go your way.

And because you're so lucky, you don't really have a lot of worries. You just hope for the best in life.

You're sometimes a little guilty of being greedy. Spread your luck around a little to people who need it.

Hair Makeover! *Edited*

Edited: Due to a mistake and some comments, I've swapped the 2nd photo with another one which should be better, hehe... And nope, I didn't use any photoshop (unlike what Chia Chean said) - just merely the tool on the website and a photo of myself! =P

Inspired by Shir Li's "hair makeover" at www.hairmixer.com, I decided to give it a try and tinkled with it for a little while. Below are my top 3 picks after trying out less than 10 styles (can't be bothered to waste time trying on every style available). Vote now for your favourite by keying in IDOL1 for pick 1, IDOL2 for pick 2, or IDOL3 for pick 3 and sms to IDOLS or 43657... Lol, that was just a parody of the Idol TV show (American, Australian, Malaysian, whatever!) - not promoting idolatry here, mind you - idolatry's ungodly!!! =( Anyway, just leave a comment either on this post or on the tagboard ya? Who knows? If I've got the mood and money (or if someone sponsors me, hehe), I may just go for the most popular hairdo as voted by you readers! =)

Makeover 1

Makeover 2

Makeover 3

Can't wait to get your responses! =P It's gonna be a long weekend for me with the Queen's birthday on Monday - whee! ^_^
