What Kids Say ... About Love
Nick Titov gave us another lecture recently on cognitive development - Piaget's (I still can't believe this child prodigy published his first scientific paper at the age of 10 and had published 20 papers by the age of 21!) and Vygotsky's theories are now all mixed up in my tiny little head and I can't tell them apart besides the fact that Vygotsky said environmental interactions are involved as well or something like that...
Tiny voice in head: Jane Gun Shih Ying!!! Why don't you know the difference? Because you haven't studied! And why haven't you studied? Coz you've been procrastinating again, haven't you?!
Gulp... guilty as charged...
Anyway, Nick gave us some quotes on love by kids of varying ages to demonstrate how different they are cognitive-wise. Some quotes make you laugh when you think about it (e.g. Lauren) while others make you go "Aww" (e.g. Bobby)... Here are the quotes:
Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day.
- Mary Ann (age 4)
I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones.
- Lauren (age 4)
Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French fries without making them give you any of theirs.
- Chrissy (age 6)
Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends even after they know each other so well.
- Tommy (age 6)
Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen.
- Bobby (age 7)
You really shouldn't say "I love you" unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget.
- Jessica (age 8)
Aww... When I start my own family one day... [daydreams away again as usual]
Love is indeed a many-splendoured thing... ^_^

Alicia, myself and Amy - thanks gals for being such great group members! Ludi (sorry you weren't in this pic coz you couldn't make it for this meeting), it's nice to have a first-year like you on-board... =)
We had to produce a booklet targeted at parents, dealing with teenage homosexuality issues. Here's the contents page of the booklet (the layout of which I designed) - nice? not nice? P+ grade, hopefully? ;)
Happy birthday, Ben, Porshee and Wei Bin! ^_^ Great dinner at Honey Wok (Chinese restaurant in Kingsford - 16 of us Malaysian/Singaporean med kids occupied the room upstairs for a few hours and created lots of noise - thankfully the owner was very understanding), boysenberry cheesecake and black forest cake for everyone, plus Claire brought Pink champagne and Malibu coconut rum to go with the Coke that Tim brought! Hehe...
Winter chills with pouring rain have arrived again. The merciless winds have tumbled down this tree at our library lawn over the weekend - some workers had to come and saw it into smaller portions... poor tree...
